Custom Website
A custom design and development using Figma and React to provide a high quality landing page for an upcoming children's book series.
Recently, I had the pleasure of working with Jay’s Pony Tales, a company preparing for the release of a new book. The task was to design a dynamic, visually engaging landing page that reflected the brand’s personality. Here’s a breakdown of how I approached the design and development process.
Designing in Figma: Crafting the Vision
The design process began with close collaboration. Jay’s Pony Tales already had a strong brand identity, and it was important that the landing page matched that aesthetic. We used Figma for the design, allowing for quick iterations and real-time feedback. This made it easy to refine the visual elements, ensuring the page captured the brand’s colors, fonts, and overall style.
Development with React: A Custom-Built Website
For the development, I chose React to provide a fast, responsive solution. React’s component-based structure made it easy to build a modular, maintainable codebase. Each section of the landing page, from the hero image to the footer, was developed as a reusable component, streamlining the process.
The custom build also gave us full control over the site’s functionality, allowing for flexibility and scalability. A major focus was ensuring the site was responsive, so it looked great across devices, from desktops to smartphones.
Bespoke Animations: Adding Custom Flair
A highlight of this project was integrating bespoke animations. Rather than relying on third-party libraries, I created a custom animation library. These animations helped give the site a unique, smooth feel, enhancing the user experience without being overwhelming.
From subtle hover effects to scroll-triggered animations, each interaction was designed to highlight key elements like the book cover and call-to-action buttons, while maintaining a playful yet professional vibe that suited the brand.
Seamless Handover: Supporting the Client
Once the site was complete, I focused on ensuring a smooth handover. I provided all necessary files and documentation, making sure the client was comfortable with managing and updating the site. I also gave advice on hosting options, helping them choose the best platform for speed, security, and reliability.
Conclusion: A Perfect Launchpad for the New Book
The landing page for Jay’s Pony Tales is now live, ready to support the book launch. By working closely with the client, paying attention to branding, and using custom development tools, we created a site that’s both visually engaging and user-friendly. I’m excited to see how the page helps Jay’s Pony Tales connect with readers and build anticipation for the upcoming release.
